More trouble for Andrew Tate: Prosecutor's office adds to one of his human trafficking charges

At the end of December 2022, the Romanian justice system arrested one of the most controversial and high-profile figures in the online celebrity world: Andrew Tate.

The former kickboxer and influencer, known for his racist, sexist, homophobic and misogynistic comments, was arrested by the Romanian police on charges of being part of an alleged sexual exploitation network.

Andrew Tate allegedly kidnapped two underage girls to abuse them and force them to create pornographic material for distribution. The former athlete always maintained his innocence and made this known from his cell, in a letter.

"I am thrown in a cell with no light. Cockroaches, lice and bedbugs are my only friends at night. They try to break my iron mind with unjust imprisonment..... My guards know I am innocent. They know it's unjust and they see that I will never give in," he wrote.

Charges against Andrew Tate for human trafficking increase

However, the problems continue to mount for Tate and his brother Tristan. In fact, the Romanian Prosecutor's Office has now upgraded one of the three charges.

The two now face the charge of "continuous trafficking of human beings", as reported by Euronews Romania. Six women are said to be ready to testify against them. However, both Andrew and Tristan maintain their innocence.

Six months after the arrest, which took place on 29 December, the trial is expected to be held at the end of June.

It should also be noted that the Tate brothers are now under house arrest. Despite the new accusations, Andrew was very calm in a message he shared with his followers on Twitter.

"They have no proof," he posted.

The Tate brothers were questioned again on 13 June, although they did not want to speak to the media when they left the court.
